Just a message to all the naysayers (and whiners) - and keep in mind we don't typically respond to bad posts since we encourage all forms of comments and rarely censor - there's a wealth of items that have come up the past 4 days, espeically after midnight during the wee hours. Secondly, this is our first time doing this type of sale, and we are still working out some kinks. Kinks as in items reappearing for the second time that shouldn't, and items that aren't even making it to the site that should. Items that are priced wrong, or too high, and items that are priced too low (no complaints there I bet!)

We took a very aggressive approach to the whole thing by selling a new item every 10 minutes and selling a new item when something sells out. Again, kinks are being worked on with this format, so chill out and have a glass of vino.

Anyway, hopefully this has shed some light on the ADSD and its intricacies therein. If not, well, sorry!

Here are a few of my thoughts on the whole matter:

Ultimately, manipulation of the commen rating system will always exist.

It's kinda like alexa's website ranking - the larger your website is or the more traffic you receive, the more accurate your ratings are. What I am saying is this: the more users there are here, commenting and rating comments, the more "manipulation" will be wiped out. So as the sites grow and the more people vote, the less skewed ratings will be due to 1's and 2's.

Now with that being said, one immediate thing we could start doing is to only allow one vote for yourself per IP address, since we know all of your user names and multiple user names. That would at least defeat some of the manipulation going on - you know who you are if you participate in this action.

I do believe you should be able to vote for yourself once. We can block voting more than once by IP. After that, I don't really see much large spread manipulation. Ultimately, like I said before, the more votes and ratings ther are (due to site growth), the more accurate the numbers will be.

One last thing is we have not yet implemented ratings into the site very well, used them in any way, and they aren't well defined as to what you are voting for. Are you voting because of hate, like, humor, etc? Noone really knows - perhaps if anything we can define what you might be voting for a little better. Overall, I don't really like the idea of wiping all votes because I believe in the long run user ratings will deviate towards their mean, regardless of what we do with them.

Ya, i think everyone is in the same boat for the most part - there are various holes in everyone's lineups and everyone will have a player or two, or even three or four, that simply won't produce. This should actually make things more fun and will rely on management more, IMO.
